Inspired by realism, he depicted everyday life, often focusing on its darker or socially inferior aspects. Krohg was a leading figure in the transition from Romanticism to Naturalism. He served as the director and the first professor at the Norwegian Academy of Arts from 1909 to 1925. Notable works include Albertine in the Police Doctor's Waiting Room and the novel Albertine. Krohg's art can be found in collections at the National Museum of Art, Architecture, and Design in Oslo and the Skagens Museum in Denmark.
