Fairground Organ

A fairground organ is a mechanical instrument built to project music in outdoor amusement spaces. Using pipes, percussion, bellows, and punched books or rolls, it could fill carousels, fairs, and travelling shows with bright repeated melodies. Its sound belongs to a public world of mechanical music, spectacle, dance rhythm, and popular entertainment before amplification became ordinary.
