Geirr Tveitt

Geirr Tveitt drew on Norwegian folk material, landscape, and myth to build a strongly individual 20th-century language. From Norway, he wrote orchestral suites, piano music, songs, and works connected with Hardanger tradition. Much of his archive was damaged by fire, making his surviving music part of a larger story of loss, reconstruction, and national color.
