John Foulds

John Foulds is one of the more searching voices of early British modernism. The English cellist and composer wrote orchestral works, theatre music, chamber pieces, and the large memorial score A World Requiem. His interest in Indian music, unusual harmony, and spiritual scale places him at the edge of 20th-century classical repertory rather than inside a narrow national school.
