Mal Waldron

Mal Waldron made repetition, space, and dark harmonic pressure central to his jazz language. The pianist and composer from the USA worked with Billie Holiday, Charles Mingus, Eric Dolphy, and many later European collaborators. Soul Eyes, Left Alone, and his long-form solo and trio work place him inside jazz as both accompanist and architect of atmosphere.
