Heitor Villa-Lobos was a Brazilian composer of the 20th Century Classical period whose music joined European concert forms with Brazilian folk and popular traditions. His major works include the Bachianas brasileiras, Chôros, guitar études, and orchestral works. Villa-Lobos became one of the most internationally recognized composers from Latin America.
