Irmin Schmidt

Irmin Schmidt brought classical training, electronics, and collective improvisation into German experimental rock. As a founder of Can, he worked alongside Holger Czukay, Jaki Liebezeit, Michael Karoli, and later Damo Suzuki. His keyboards and studio thinking helped connect postwar avant-garde ideas with the motoric energy of 1970s music.
