Alessandro Marcello

Alessandro Marcello (1673-1747) was an Italian composer from Venice, who belonged to the highest nobility of the city. Marcello composed and published several collections of concerts, cantatas, arias, and sonatas, as well as eight books of distichs. His most famous piece is the Oboe Concerto in D minor, which Johann Sebastian Bach transcribed for harpsichord.
