Abida Parveen is a Pakistani singer, composer, and musician born on February 20, 1954. She is also an entrepreneur and a painter. Parveen is known for her Sufi music and is called the “Queen of Sufi music”. She is one of the highest-paid singers in Pakistan and is trained by her father Ustad Ghulam Haider, a famous singer and music teacher. She started performing in the 1970s and gained global recognition in the 1990s. Parveen sings ghazals, thumri, khyal, qawwali, raga, classical, semi-classical music, and specializes in kafi, a solo genre. She sings in Urdu, Sindhi, Punjabi, Arabic, and Persian. Parveen has received numerous accolades and awards for her music, including the Hilal-e-Imtiaz and the Nishan-e-Imtiaz awards. She has toured globally and is one of the world's greatest mystic singers.
