The Bang on a Can All-Stars is an American amplified ensemble that was formed in 1992 by Bang on a Can organization. They are known for their performances in Alt classical, classical crossover, and post-minimalism genres. The ensemble has set instrumentation to take on touring and recording projects that are not feasible for the organization's massive "Marathon" concert productions. The group has six members—Robert Black, Mark Stewart, David Cossin, Vicky Chow, Ken Thomson, and Arlen Hlusko—and has had past members such as Evan Ziporyn, Lisa Moore, Steve Schick, Maya Beiser, Wendy Sutter, and Ashley Bathgate. The group has released several notable pieces, including Renegade Heaven and In C by Terry Riley, and has won many awards for their contributions to contemporary music.
