The Blues Brothers is an American blues and soul revivalist band, founded in 1978 by comedians Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi. The band was known for its unique style of music, which involved the use of well-known musicians to accompany Aykroyd and Belushi in character. In 1978, they released their debut album—Briefcase Full of Blues—and gained further popularity with the release of their 1980 Hollywood comedy film The Blues Brothers. Following Belushi's death in 1982, the band continued to perform with guest singers and band members. They reformed in 1988 for a world tour and again in 1998 for a sequel film Blues Brothers 2000. Notable pieces include Hey Bartender and Soul Man.
