Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart were a duo of American singer-songwriters active in the 1960s. Hart served in the army and later sought a singing career in Los Angeles while Boyce pursued songwriting. They had success writing for various artists such as Chubby Checker, Jay & the Americans, and The Leaves. The duo became well-known for writing songs for The Monkees and performed the soundtrack of the show’s pilot. Despite conflicts with the show’s musical supervisor they continued to write and produce songs for the band, including Last Train to Clarksville. They wrote the theme song for Days of Our Lives and recorded three top-40 hits as artists. Boyce co-wrote the song Be My Guest for Fats Domino, and Hart co-wrote Hurt So Bad for Little Anthony & the Imperials.
