Burke Shelley was a Welsh musician known as the lead vocalist and bassist of the hard rock/heavy metal band Budgie. Shelley co-founded Budgie in 1967 under the name Hills Contemporary Grass before changing it the following year. He is often compared to Rush's Geddy Lee due to their shared role as bassist-vocalist in power trio bands and their distinctive high-pitched singing voices. Shelley played bass with a guitar pick and also contributed keyboards on Budgie's early albums.
