Don Bowman—an American country music singer, comedian, and radio host—was active from the 1960s to the 2000s. He gained recognition for his humorous songs and novelty hits. Bowman recorded for RCA Victor and scored a Top 40 hit with Chit Akins, Make Me a Star. He hosted the radio show American Country Countdown from its inception in 1973 until 1978. He won awards such as Billboard's Favorite Country Comedy Recording of the Year in 1966 and the Country Music Association's Comedian of the Year in 1967. His song Wildwood Weed achieved success through Jim Stafford's rendition.
