Early Music New York—a prominent early music ensemble based in New York City—has been active since 1974 under the leadership of director and conductor Frederick Renz. Emerging after the dissolution of New York Pro Musica, Renz established the Ensemble for Early Music followed by the creation of the Grande Bande as an offshoot. These groups are associated with Renz's Early Music Foundation. In 2002, the ensemble was rebranded as Early Music New York.
