The Central Philharmonic is a symphony orchestra, based in Beijing, China. Formerly known as the Central Opera Company Orchestra, it was renamed the China National Symphony Orchestra in 1996. The orchestra has performed extensively in China, Hong Kong, Macau, the United States, Spain, South Korea, and Taiwan. Known for promoting Chinese composers, it has premiered numerous new compositions. Notable pieces produced by the orchestra include the Yellow River Cantata and Yellow River Piano Concerto. The orchestra's directors have included Zheng Xiaoying, Li Delun, and Yan Liangkun.
