Cesária Évora, known as the "Barefoot Diva," was a Cape Verdean singer-songwriter who gained international prominence in the 1990s. Évora was known as the "Queen of Morna," a genre of music from Cape Verde. Notable pieces include Sodade and Ausência which was featured in the film Underground. She received a Grammy Award in 2004 for her album Voz d'Amor.
