Adiemus is a new-age music series by Welsh composer Karl Jenkins, featuring harmonized vocal melodies and orchestral background. The albums have no actual language, and the lyrics were written phonetically to match the orchestral parts. The word Adiemus itself bears a resemblance to the Latin word adeamus, meaning "let us approach." The titular piece on Songs of Sanctuary was originally composed for a Delta Air Lines TV commercial, and its popularity led to its expansion into full work. The first four albums featured session singer Miriam Stockley, and later albums featured Mary Carewe and the Finnish Adiemus Singers. The London Philharmonic Orchestra and Adiemus Orchestra have both been featured.
