America is a British-America rock band formed in London in 1970. The band members, Dewey Bunnell, Dan Peek, and Gerry Beckley, were all sons of US Air Force personnel stationed in London. America's sound is characterized by close vocal harmonies and light acoustic guitar work. The band released a string of hit albums and singles, including A Horse with No Name, Ventura Highway, Sister Golden Hair, and Daisy Jane. Peek left the group in 1977, and they continued to release material and tour regularly. America won a Grammy Award for Best New Artist and was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2006. The band is still active, with its latest album released in 2020.
