Bud Green was an American lyricist born in the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1898, who immigrated to the United States as an infant. Green's early years involved selling newspapers and keeping a notebook of poems and rhymes which helped him develop into a songwriter. He became a staff writer for music publishers and wrote Broadway stage scores as well as songs for other musicals. Some of his notable songs include Alabamy Bound, That's My Weakness Now, and Sentimental Journey. Bud Green collaborated with many artists and fellow songwriters and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1975. He died in Yonkers, New York, in January 1981, leaving behind a legacy of contributions to Broadway musicals and show tunes.
