Armando Manzanero Canché (1935-2020) was a renowned Mexican Mayan musician, singer, composer, actor, and music producer. He is widely regarded as the premier Mexican romantic composer of the postwar era and one of the most successful composers in Latin America. Manzanero received numerous accolades throughout his career, including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014. He was actively involved in the Mexican Society of Authors and Composers and served as its president. Manzanero composed over 400 songs, with 50 of them achieving international fame. Some of his notable pieces include Voy a apagar la luz, Contigo Aprendí, and Somos Novios. His work has been performed by renowned artists such as Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, and Andrea Bocelli.
