Azam Ali is an Iranian musician born on 3 October 1970 in Tehran. She spent most of her childhood in Panchgani, India before moving to Los Angeles in 1985. Azam is known for her work in multiple genres including rock, folk, new age, Sufi, and world music. She is a songwriter and plays several instruments including a hammered dulcimer, frame drum, and guitar. Azam is a member of VAS and Niyaz bands, having released eight full-length albums with them, as well as four solo albums. Her third album—From Night to the Edge of Day—is a collection of lullabies inspired by her son. Azam has also contributed her vocals to several movie and video game soundtracks, including Uncharted 3 and Final Fantasy. In 2019, she released her self-produced album PHANTOMS.
