Antonio Bertali was an Italian composer and violinist born in Verona in March 1605 and died in Vienna in April 1669. Bertali's compositions, including operas, oratorios, liturgical and chamber music, were influenced by the styles of other composers from Northern Italy of his time. He is known for his contribution to bringing the tradition of Italian opera seria to Vienna. Bertali's notable pieces include his oratorios, such as Maria Maddalena, and his operas, such as La Zenobia di Radamisto. Bertali's works are preserved in various libraries, including the Hofbibliothek in Vienna and the Library of the Abbey of Kremsmünster.
