Aurora Orchestra is a British chamber orchestra founded in 2004 by conductors Nicholas Collon and Robin Ticciati. The orchestra is based in London and has been praised for its creative programming and presentation. It has gained recognition for pioneering memorized performance as a regular feature of its artistic output. Since its launch, Aurora has worked with a wide range of artists including Brett Dean, Sarah Connolly, Wayne McGregor, and Björk. The Arts Council of England included Aurora Orchestra in its new "national portfolio" scheme in 2011, and the orchestra won the Ensemble category of the annual Royal Philharmonic Society Music Awards in 2011. Aurora Orchestra has performed classical symphonies entirely from memory at The Proms, including works by Mozart, Beethoven, and Berlioz. The orchestra has also made commercial albums for Warner Classics.
