Badie Khairy was an Egyptian playwright, writer, actor, and composer, born on August 17, 1893. He was considered one of the most prominent Egyptian playwrights in the 20th century, and the first to write for Egyptian cinema. Khairy started his career by writing monologues, then plays, and later he composed operettas. He met Naguib Al-Rayhani in 1918, and their first collaboration was the novel Ali Kaifak, while their last work together was the movie Ghazal al-Banat. Khairy's notable works include Love this. He founded the literary theater and composed some plays for the Okasha troupe. Khairy died on February 1, 1966, at the age of 72.
