Barry Wordsworth is a British conductor known for his long-standing relationship with the Royal Ballet. He started as the Assistant Conductor of the company's touring orchestra in 1972 and became Principal Conductor of the Sadler's Wells Royal Ballet in 1973. Wordsworth also served as Music Director of the Royal Ballet twice, from 1990 to 1995 and from 2006 to 2015, and was appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the company. He was the principal conductor of the BBC Concert Orchestra for 17 years and also the Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra since 1989.
