Big Maybelle, born Mabel Louise Smith, was an American R&B, blues, and gospel singer. She sang gospel as a child, and by her teens, she had switched to rhythm and blues. Big Maybelle started her professional career in 1936 with Dave Clark's Memphis Band. Her 1956 hit single Candy received the Grammy Hall of Fame Award in 1999. Some of her notable pieces include Gabbin' Blues, Way Back Home, My Country Man, Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On, and All Night Long/I Ain't Mad at You. In 2011, she was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame.
