Carl Nielsen
Carl Nielsen was a Danish composer and conductor. He was active during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Nielsen came from a humble background and began his musical journey as a violinist in a military band. Some notable pieces by Nielsen include his Symphony No. 2 The Four Temperaments and Symphony No. 5. Nielsen's works show a progression towards a more modern and innovative musical language. He is celebrated as a national hero in Denmark and his achievements include being appointed as a Commander of the Order of the Dannebrog.
