Claudio Scimone—an Italian conductor—left an indelible mark on the world of music. Active throughout the 20th century, Scimone gained international acclaim for his interpretations of baroque and Renaissance compositions. He founded I Solisti Veneti, an ensemble with which he recorded extensively. Notably, he conducted the first recording of Muzio Clementi's Symphonies with the Philharmonia of London. Scimone's pioneering efforts brought Vivaldi's theatrical works to prominence and he conducted the first modern performance of Orlando Furioso.
