Diego Velázquez
Diego Rodríguez de Silva y Velázquez—a Spanish Baroque painter—was the court artist of King Philip IV. His style evolved from tenebrism to bold brushwork. Renowned works include The Surrender of Breda, Rokeby Venus, Portrait of Innocent X, and the masterpiece Las Meninas. Velázquez's art influenced realists and impressionists in the 19th century and modern artists like Picasso and Dalí in the 20th century. Most of his collection is in Museo del Prado.
