Ensemble Sonnerie—founded in London in 1982—stands as a prominent period instrument ensemble. Notable for performances worldwide, from Sydney to Vancouver, they hold a quarterly series at London's Wigmore Hall. Comprising core members Monica Huggett (baroque violin), Gary Cooper (harpsichord), Emilia Benjamin (viola da gamba, violin, and viola), and Alison McGillivray (baroque cello), they also perform as a flexible trio or quartet. Renowned for their ASV label recordings, they recently explored Heinrich Johann Franz von Biber's violin sonatas and ventured into Mozart's Piano Quartets, showcasing Gary Cooper on the fortepiano.
