Josquin des Prez was perhaps the most renowned European composer between Guillaume Dufay and Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, and is now commonly considered to be the lead persona of the Flemish School. He is the prominent master of the high Renaissance style of polyphonic vocal music that was emerging during his lifetime.
