Ustad Amjad Ali Khan was born in 1945 in Gwalior, India, to a classical musical family. He is a renowned Indian classical sarod player who has performed internationally since the 1960s. Khan first performed in the United States in 1963 and continued into the 2000s with his sons. Khan was awarded Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian honor, in 2001. He has experimented with modifications to his instrument throughout his career. In 2014, he and his two sons performed Raga For Peace at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert.
