Bobby Capó was a Puerto Rican singer-songwriter who combined ballads with classical and folk music to create Latino pop songs with dramatic lyrics. Born in Coamo, Puerto Rico, Capó migrated to New York City in the 1940s and replaced Pedro Ortiz Dávila in the Cuarteto Victoria before joining Xavier Cugat's orchestra. He also wrote songs for many of his contemporaries, with El Negro Bembón and Sin Fe becoming international hits. Capó's Soñando con Puerto Rico and De Las Montañas Venimos are anthems in Puerto Rico, while Piel Canela became his best-known song.
