Artie Shaw was an American clarinetist, composer, bandleader, actor, and author. He was active in the music industry from 1925 to 1954 and is considered one of jazz's finest clarinetists. Shaw led one of the most popular big bands in the late 1930s and early 1940s, known for hits like Begin the Beguine and Stardust. Shaw recorded with small jazz groups in addition to his big bands.
