Double bass

The double bass, also known as the bass, is the largest chordophone in the modern symphony orchestra, structurally akin to the cello. It features four, sometimes five strings and holds a significant role in the orchestra's string section. It's a staple in Western classical music, concertos, chamber music, as well as the concert band. Beyond classical, the bass finds its place in diverse genres such as jazz, blues, rock, country, and folk.
