Bill Kreutzmann—born on May 7, 1946—is a drummer from Palo Alto, California. He is best known for his role as a founding member of the rock band Grateful Dead where he played for the band's entire 30-year career. Kreutzmann has continued to perform with former members of the Grateful Dead in various lineups, including his own bands Billy & the Kids, BK3, and 7 Walkers. Kreutzmann has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and his drumming style was greatly influenced by Ray Charles, Elvin Jones, and The Meters. Notable works include Grateful Dead's Friend of the Devil and Casey Jones.
