Karl Richter was a German conductor, choirmaster, organist, and harpsichordist. He was regarded as one of the greatest Bach conductors of the 20th century and singled out for his serious approach to Baroque music.
In 1951, Richter organized the Munich Bach Choir which, by 1953, was expanded into the Munich Bach Orchestra. His performances certainly focused on Bach and Baroque music in general, and Richter's musicians went on to become the most famed experts of this era.
