Claudio Abbado
Claudio Abbado (1933-2014) was an influential Italian conductor known for his leadership in various renowned orchestras and ensembles. He served as the music director of La Scala opera house in Milan, principal conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra, and music director of the Vienna State Opera, among other positions. Notable works include his interpretations of Gustav Mahler's symphonies and his championing of contemporary composers. Abbado's achievements included extending the opera season at La Scala, founding the Filarmonica della Scala and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, and establishing the Orchestra Mozart.
