Gong

A gong is a percussion instrument whose sound can range from a focused metallic stroke to a vast spreading resonance. It appears in Asian ensemble traditions, orchestral writing, theatre, ritual, and experimental music. In Western concert music and film sound, the gong often marks ceremony, climax, atmosphere, or a sudden change of musical space.
