Harry Partch

Harry Partch rebuilt composition around tuning, language, theatre, and instruments of his own design. The USA composer rejected standard equal temperament and worked with microtonal systems, especially his 43-tone scale. Works such as Barstow, Delusion of the Fury, and Revelation in the Courthouse Park place him among the most radical figures of 20th-century classical music.
