Jack Bruce turned the bass into a lead voice in British blues-rock. The Scottish singer, bassist, and songwriter became central to Cream with Eric Clapton, bringing jazz harmony, forceful singing, and improvising energy into rock. Songs such as Sunshine of Your Love, White Room, and Politician made his playing part of the late-1960s power-trio language.
