The Dave Brubeck Quartet became one of the central small groups of modern jazz. Built around pianist Dave Brubeck, saxophonist Paul Desmond, drummer Joe Morello, and bassist Eugene Wright, the group became famous for unusual meters, clear melodic writing, and the album Time Out.
