Friedrich Gulda

Friedrich Gulda refused to keep classical pianism and jazz in separate worlds. The Austrian pianist and composer became known for Mozart and Beethoven interpretations as well as improvisation, jazz groups, and boundary-crossing works. His career turned virtuoso technique into a field for experiment, provocation, and stylistic freedom.
