He Zhanhao helped create one of the best-known Chinese concert works of the modern era. The composer from China is closely associated with The Butterfly Lovers’ Violin Concerto, written with Chen Gang and premiered in the late 1950s. The work joins Chinese opera melody, folk narrative, solo violin, and Western orchestra technique.
