Julius Fučík

Julius Fučík turned military-band craft into music with a long popular afterlife. The Czech composer and conductor wrote marches, waltzes, polkas, and concert pieces for wind and military ensembles. Entry of the Gladiators became famous far beyond its original context, while his broader output belongs to the late Romantic world of public ceremony, band culture, and theatrical display.
