Mark Sandman was a singer, songwriter, and bassist from the USA, best known as the central figure of Morphine. His two-string slide bass, low voice, and spare writing helped define the band’s unusual mixture of rock, blues, jazz, and nocturnal minimalism. Songs such as Buena, Cure for Pain, and Thursday made his sound immediately recognizable.
