Guembri

The guembri is a three-string plucked bass instrument used in Gnawa tradition. Its low, buzzing sound anchors songs, dance, and ritual performance, combining bass line, rhythm, and melodic pattern in a single part. Closely related to the sintir, the guembri also influenced later encounters between North African music, jazz, and experimental fusion.
