Henry Pacory

Henry Pacory is remembered chiefly as the poet behind Je te veux, the song set by Erik Satie. Working in France around the turn of the 20th century, he belongs to the café-concert and salon world where light verse, waltz rhythm, and art song could overlap. The text’s later life in voice-and-piano versions made Pacory a small but persistent name inside Satie’s repertory.
