Luigi Boccherini

Luigi Boccherini brought Italian melodic grace into the chamber and courtly music of late 18th-century Europe. The composer and cellist from Italy spent much of his career in Spain, writing string quintets, symphonies, guitar quintets, and the famous Minuet. His music links the Classical period with a special sensitivity to texture, dance, and the singing possibilities of the cello.
